The Game
- Note: This project is put on hold for an undetermined amount of time.
- Developing a strategy role playing game.
Hello visitor, my name is Ivo Grigull also known as Loolarge. I am developing a game. It is a one person project at the moment. It has been said many times that it would be impossible to create such game projects alone. If you are skeptikal for now, i totally have an understanding for that. I have seen many hobby projects die after a short period. Who knows if i ever finish the game, you just can’t tell. But i am confident and dedicated. Actually i am making a dream come true, i was interested in game creation since i was a child (i am 24 now). I know some programming (C++) and i know a lot about 3D, certainly about animation. I worked as a professional character animator for feature film during the last 3.5 years, and now fulltime on this baby.

So what’s the game about? It is a console-type, turn-based strategy Role Playing Game. Similar to Shining Force or Final Fantasy Tactics. Currently i am developing it for PC and the engine is DirectX based. I would love to port it to a console though, since you would reach more people and the gameplay fits a console better.
Since i returned to Hamburg recently and moved to my new place, i am working on a plugin for the 3D Software “XSI Foundation”, that connects to the 3D engine that i use: Truevision3D. There is an engine screen display embedded to XSI and you can upload objects, lights, animations, cameras etc. Whe you move them or change attributes, you see the results instantly. Everything that the engine can do is animateable through XSI, this is obviously characters and cameras, but also effects like glow, motion blur or post shaders, colors and “blendshapes”. So creating animation sequences and maps is easy and can be used with XSI’s proprietary tools. The scene can be saved and loaded to/from an own file format afterwards.
That’s all for now. No visual desings yet. I very much want to encourage you to come back frequently as i will add more news alongside the progression of an yet untitled game project done by a single person, yes i will!
